Open Question: What can I wear to scuba dive. ?

There is a boat down in my town this weekend. You can go and scuba dive. It says to bring you own swim suit and they will supply the gear. I want to go and try but I don't have a swimsuit. Could I just wear a pair of boxers? Could I wear compression shorts? I'd prefer boxers. I'm afraid they will say ok go put your swimsuit on and take your shirt off.
